Erratic Behavior and Recovery

If your UVB5 should experience erratic behavior due to Corrupt Memory, the procedure below will restore your radio back to it's original configuration.

Some of these behavior include, but are not limited to:
   Transmitter Lockout
   Receiver Lockout
Radio could not shift into Reverse mode when programming

What causes these errors is not known, but the cure is to load a good fresh initial software image back into memory.

This procedure is described below.

Recovery using CHIRP Software

(1)   Load the latest CHIRP Daily Developmental Build software.

(2)   From the CHIRP top toolbar, select  Radio_/_Download_from_Radio  to create a current image.

(3)   Save this image file for future reference.
          i.e.  UVB5_NO_TX.img

(4)   Go to the KC9HI CHIRP Recovery site and Download / Save the UV-B5(factory).img

(5)   From the CHIRP top toolbar, select  Radio_/_Upload_to_Radio  to upload the fresh Recovery image your radio.
Your radio is now set to its original factory settings.

Note:
You will now need to move your channels and data to the fresh Recovery image.  Copy and Paste the information from the saved UVB5_NO_TX.img  file to the Recovery image template.

Do Not upload your old template file (UVB5_NO_TX.img) to your radio or you will be restoring the bad Lockup image.
