Frequency Mode vs. Channel Mode

These two modes have different functions and often confused.

Frequency Mode - Used for a temporary frequency assignment, such as a test frequency or quick field programming.

Channel Mode - Used for selecting preprogrammed channels.


1) All programming MUST be done in the Frequency Mode.
2) There are 199 channels per Bank
3) Bank A or B is determined by Upper (A) or Lower (B) display.







Programming Repeater with Standard Offset

146.700 MHz
600kHz  minus offset
CTCSS TX tone 123.0
into channel 99
Change from Menu to Menu by pressing the    key, or using the number pad.
Once proper menu is selected, you can move from Option to Option using 

Set radio to VFO Mode   (Frequency Mode)
     Press [# V/M] Key until channel number in upper left is gone.

Select Desired Bank Upper Display is Bank A, Lower is Bank B


      1 4 6 7 0 0     Enter RX using microphone keypad

Programming a Simplex Channel

446.000 MHz
into channel 99
Change from Menu to Menu by pressing the    key, or using the number pad.
Once proper menu is selected, you can move from Option to Option using

     Press [# V/M] Key until channel number in upper left is gone.

Select Desired Bank Upper Display is Bank A, Lower is Bank B
