These examples will guide you through the basic
manual programming of the UV3R+.
Set radio to VFO Mode
Press/Hold [U/V] key for approx 3 seconds.
(Display will change)
Select VHF range
Press/Release the [U/V] key to switch between UHF (450 MHz) / VHF (150 MHz) range. Select the VHF range for this exercise.
Pull up knob on top of radio.
This will enable you to make menu selections.
Set Step Size to 5 kHz
Press/Release the [MENU] Key
The first [MENU] item to appear will be RXCODE or [MENU] #1
Rotate Dial clockwise until [MENU] #9 STEP appears.
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial to select 5.00 (5KHz)
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Press/Release the [MENU] key.
Frequency will once again appear.
Rotating the dial will now advance the frequency display in 5 kHz increments.
1 MHz Steps
To temporarily utilize 1 MHz increments: Lift knob on top of transceiver
Press/Release the Function Key Rotate Dial to change 1 MHz at a time

Programming a
Simplex Channel Simplex is defined as Transmitting (TX) and
Receiving (RX) on the same frequency.
This example is for 146.520 MHz
Press/Release the [U/V] key to enter the VFO Mode.
Rotate Dial until “146.520” appears on the LCD screen.
Press/Release [F/ALERT] Button (left side)
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
A tiny channel number (1-99) will blink above the frequency display.
Rotate Dial to the desired channel number (1-99)
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Frequency is now stored in that memory location.
Now, press and hold the [U/V] key to return to the VFO mode.
Programming a Repeater Channel For this example, we will program the 146.700 MHz repeater.
For this example, we will program the 146.700 MHz repeater.
146.700 MHz - Repeater TX Freq
146.100 MHz - Repeater RX Freq (referred to as a minus -0.600 MHz offset)
123.0 Hz - CTCSS/PL Tone required to access repeater
Press/Release the [U/V] key to enter the VFO Mode.
Rotate Dial until “146.700” appears on the LCD.
(RX freq)
Press/Release [MENU] key.
Rotate Dial to [MENU] 10 (OFFSET)
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial until “00.600” is displayed.
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial to [MENU] 11 (SHIFT)
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial until “-” (minus) is displayed.
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial to [MENU] 2 (TXCODE) Press/Release the [U/V] key.
Rotate Dial until “123.0” is displayed.
Press/Release the [U/V] key.
