The MD-2017 uses a unique programming cable to assist with its moisture resistance. Although it resembles cable from some other radios, such as the TID TD-9800, the pin configuration is different making it in compatible. The TYT UART chip is inside the radio.  The cable itself is straight through and no special drivers are required.    Many of the TYT radios ship with the programming cable.
