What's in the Package

The Nagoya 771R is a new addition to the Nagoya family of antennas.  This 15" retractable antenna is the cousin to the ever popular NA-771.  It comes with a small rubber spacer should your radio require one for a snug fit.

Over-the-Air Tests

The OTA tests were made was between the stock A-V85 antenna found on many VHF/UHF handhelds. The difference was immediately noticeable.  This is to be expected from an antenna that relies on being nearly a full quarter wavelength long.

Side by side performance with the NA-771R and NA-771 was identical.

Keep in mind that although the antenna is retractable, it will still receive fairly well while retracted, but when transmitting, the antenna must be extended to it's full length.  If not, the mismatch could cause damage to the transmitter.

A quick summary review, an excellent performer.

I definitely give it a 5 star rating.
