Example below will give you
an idea for how the keypad programming works.
Once you are familiar with the flow of the
keypad, other options can be added using the
same technique.
This example demonstrates programming a VHF repeater frequency with:
Frequency 146.840 MHz
Repeater with offset - 0.600
CTCSS transmit code 123.0 Hz
Channel Name
Saving the channel 99

Select Band to program by pressing
*
BAND
Upper Display = UHF Lower
Display = VHF
(Select Display A)
Press *
BAND
to select Lower Display Only (VHF)
(Set radio to VFO mode)
Press C
V/M (no channel #
appears on right)
(Enter Frequency)
1 4 6 8 4 0 or 1 4 6 8 4 #
(Select Offset Amount)
Not necessary if simplex channel
Press A FUNC
then 8 SET
Press B MAIN / C
V/M to select OFFSET
* (see below)
Rotate channel switch to .600 kHz
Press D ESC to confirm
(Select Offset Direction)
Press
A FUNC
then 4 +/- until
"-" appears on LCD
Press D ESC to confirm
(Enter Transmit CTCSS Tone)
Press A FUNC
then 8 SET
Press B MAIN / C
V/M to select
T-CDC
(Menu 1)
Press 1 to select Tone Type
Dial in desired Tone
Press D ESC to confirm
(Enter Channel Name)
Press A FUNC
then 8 SET
Press B MAIN / C
V/M to select
NAME
(MENU=14)
First character will start flashing
Rotate channel know to select desired character
Press 1
FM to move cursor to the
right
Press 4 +/- to move cursor
to the left
Press D ESC to confirm
(Store Memory Channel)
Press
A FUNC
then C V/M
Rotate channel switch to Channel 99
Press A FUNC
Press and HOLD C V/M
until a Double Beep is heard
Confirm by pressing C
V/M to return to channel
mode.
Type in 0 9 9 to
view the new channel.
